GEOFFREY BARING is a student at Stratford High School. He was born in Maryland, and raised in Houston, Texas. His whole life, he has been passionate about both mathematics and science, and in his high school career he has taken as many advanced science classes as he could, from AP Physics to AP Chemistry. He has participated in several scientific competitions, including first robotics competition, and for the last year he has been a member of Stratford High School’s Academy of Science and Engineering. He hopes to pursue further education in mathematics and physics at university, and is looking to explore a number of career options in these areas.
STEVEN BRADSHAW is a senior at Stratford High School. He was born and raised in Houston, Texas and is a huge outdoorsmen. Fishing and hunting have always has a certain spot in his heart. Ever since he was little he was either out on the water or in a deer blind, waiting for the perfect opportunity. Steven is the captain of the Bradshaw owned 26 foot bay and offshore boat, he knows the ins and outs of the boat and has a real passion for marine vehicles. But also he excels in the classroom, Steven takes all AP courses and is exceptional in the math and science course he takes. He loves maths and sciences and has wants to merge what he loves and what he is good at into a college degree. Steven wants to attend the United States Naval Academy and obtain an ocean engineering degree.
LAUREN BYRAM is a senior at Stratford High School involved in Newspaper, National Honor Society and the Academy of Science and Engineering. Outside of school she is spends her time volunteering through the Junior Rodeo Committee and National Charity League. She is excited to be working on a project that reflects her interests in science.
ELIZABETH COLE is a senior at Stratford High School. She is one of the valedictorians, and is in National Honor Society, Student Council, and First Junior Women's Charity Club. She is part of the school varsity swim and water polo team, and is also Associate Editor of the school newspaper, the Oracle. She is an AP student, and is interested in studying chemical, biomedical, or mechanical engineering in college.
ERIN COLLINS is an optimistic prospective engineer who is goal oriented and creative. She excels in STEM and academic related activities while pursuing her passions. She is the head of the Stratford dance team, a Girl Scout, and is heavily involved in her church. She currently leads the group in experimental planning.
DEEPSIKHA DAS is an excellent coder that has a kindred spirit that aspires to help others. She excels in coding and engineering, recently partaking in the Offshore Technology Conference and winning the Award of Innovation. She leads the group in computer and programming related issues. She has also been a part of the high school research academy at University of Texas at Austin where she developed pen ink using pigment extracted from bacteria. She enjoys volunteering at the Houston Public Library and at her temple in her free time.
DYLAN DOMAGAS is a senior at Stratford High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Academy of Science and Engineering. He plans to enter the field of engineering as a biomedical engineer. He has over 450 volunteer hours from the Houston Food Bank, Harris County Library System, St. Jude Hospital Fundraising Campaign, Spring Branch Welcome Center, Key Club, Red Cross and Stratford's Big Day. He has attended multiple summer camps related to engineering at the University of Virginia, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Houston Downtown.
LAUREN DUBNER is a senior at Stratford High School. She currently takes most Pre-AP classes. She also takes 2 dual credit courses in English and History. She is also a player for the school's basketball team, a member of Junior Girls, a member of the International Thespian Society, and a member of Red Cross Club. Over the summer she also volunteers at Camp Kidney, which deals with children who deal with kidney cancer. She has always loved being around children, and helping them with whatever they may need. This reason and her love for science and engineering are the 2 reasons she chose her senior project. Although she has not chosen a major for college career, she knows that regardless of what she chooses, it will be a career in either engineering or medicine.
Grace Elphingstone is currently a senior at Stratford High School. Her favorite classes are math, chemistry and physics, and she plans on majoring in the field of STEM and finding a career in the space industry. She is not only passionate about math and science, but also loves music. She is a Stratford Orchestra officer and has played in the Stratford Playhouse Orchestra since her sophomore year. In her free time, she likes writing argumentative nonfiction essays and sci-fi/fantasy, and spending time in the outdoors, climbing mountains and backpacking. She finds a sense of wonder in the natural world, especially the vast night sky, and wants to design systems for voyages into the last frontier.
JULIA GELBER is a senior at Stratford High School. She is involved in several school clubs, such as Tri-Theta, Red Cross Club, Future Doctors of America, and Link Crew, as well as a swimmer on the varsity swim team. Outside of school she swims for the Dads Club swim team and also volunteers at local animal shelters, her Hebrew school, and the food bank. She is very interested in the field of medicine and her senior project is centered around that.
ALEJANDRO GONZALEZ is currently a senior at stratford high school and a member of the Academy of Science and Engineering (ASE). He is also involved in key club, retro gaming club, and varsity debate. In his spare time, he likes to keep up with current world issues as well read and watch scientific articles and documentaries on subjects relating to paleontology, biology, physics, and astronomy. He has a passion for math, science, and engineering and plans to pursue a career in electrical engineering.
MADELINE HARMS is currently a senior at Stratford Senior High School. She is interested in space exploration and hopes to get a degree in chemical engineering in college. She also enjoy reading and drawing in her free time, and playing various tabletop games and world builds for fun. (Worldbuilding: designing a hypothetical setting for stories to take place.) She also runs track in her free time.
BEN HOWELL is a senior at Stratford High School. He runs cross country and track at Stratford. He has participated in multiple first robotic competitions as a member of the Stratford High Advanced Robotics Club. As a junior, Ben joined the Academy of Science and Engineering to further his dreams of becoming an aerospace engineer. However, Ben is also interested in kinesiology and human physiology and is undecided as to what exactly he will major in.
THOMAS HOWELL is a senior at Stratford High School. He is currently a valedictorian and is also in involved in Academy of Science and Engineering, football, lacrosse, Business Professional of America, and National Honor Society. Outside of school he is involved in Young Life and was the 2016-2017 president for the Charity Work Crew. He is probably planning to go into business most likely majoring in accounting.
JJ ISBELL is a senior at Stratford High School. She is involved in the Stratford Thespians and Playhouse, Odyssey of the Mind, tap dance, and Girl Scouts. She is also Vice President of Red Cross Club and Key Club, and regularly volunteers with mentally handicapped members of her church and local area. Her senior project is the “Tiny House” in which she will be exploring alternative and sustainable living on a small scale.
PAUL KIM is a student who shows interest in various STEM courses especially in the subjects of Chemistry and Biology. To further pursue his dream he took a course known as ASE, the Academy of Science and Engineering, where he learned various skills in different types of science and engineering field of studies and nurtured his dream to become a biomedical engineer. As a result, for his senior project, he has decided to meet up with other students who shared a similar or related view for the progression of their senior projects to form the Progerät.
BEN KUHN is senior at Stratford High School. He is a member of the Academy of Science and Engineering at as well as Student Council and National Honor Society. He is a valedictorian, and has reached the status of Eagle Scout. Ben has been on varsity football at Stratford for the past three years and continues to pursue his love for the game in his free time. Ben isn’t quite sure on what he wants to major in, but he does know he wants to study engineering.
JUSTIN LEE is an Academy of Science and Engineering member and a former Orchestra Officer at Stratford High School. A devotee of computer science, creative writing, and music, Justin aspires to one day create something that will inspire a future generation of thinkers and artists. In the meantime, however, he strives to commit to a deeper understanding of the mathematics and the structure of the world.
COLIN LOWE is a student at Stratford High School who participates in numerous activities along with being a member of the Academy of Science and Engineering (ASE). With the involvement in National Honor Society and Work Crew, he gives back to his community by offering service hours to help in many different ways. During school, Colin participates in football and track. These sports have helped build character and teamwork skills. With this experience, Colin plans to take his academic skills to a university and study some form of engineering after graduating high school.
SAEED MENISSY is a senior at Stratford High School who is involved in the Academy of Science and Engineering and football. Aside from playing football, Saeed enjoys taking higher level science courses and challenging himself in STEM related fields. He enjoys volunteering with the National Honor Society chapter at Stratford High School and was a member of the debate team. In his spare time, he likes tinkering with computer related things and learning more about advancements in the medical field.
Mary Mouton is a senior at Stratford High School. She is a member of NHS, Student Council, Vice President of her school's Thespian troupe, and Senior Editor for the Yearbook. Mary enjoys playing with her dogs, designing lighting for school plays, reading, and volunteering for her local community center. Mary's favorite drink is water and she's not ashamed of that fact. While she isn't sure where she will be attending college, she plans on melding her love of the humanities and math through economics.
JOYCE PARK is a passionate individual that aspires to work in both the art and STEM field in the future. She currently works at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston while leading her school’s Chemistry Club, Debate Team, Red Cross Club, and excelling in her academics. She also partakes in Rice University’s Hebl Psychology Lab as a research assistant and volunteers on a local basis at the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition and at her church.
CATHERINE PARNELL is a senior at Stratford High School who is involved in the Academy of Science and Engineering, National Honors Society, Student Council, and is the captain of the varsity lacrosse team. She has a passion for biology, chemistry, and statistics. When she’s not delving into her academic studies, she enjoys listening to music, playing her ukulele, and finding new, exciting foods to try.
BRAD PERKINS is a student at Stratford High School whose interest in math and science drove him to join the Academy of Science and Engineering. His academic achievements have been recognized through his involvement in National Honor Society, where he volunteers in the community. Furthermore, he participates in Stratford’s Annual Big Day service project, serving the Stratford community through donating his time to kids that are less fortunate. While being dedicated academically, Brad is also involved in stratford’s baseball program. A well-rounded student, he hopes to attend the Cockrell Engineering school at the University of Texas.
BRYAN PHAM is a senior at Stratford High School. He plans to pursue a career in electrical engineering due to his interest in STEM related subjects. His passion for service led to him being elected as Lieutenant Governor of Division 3S for Key Club, an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. He is also a member of Academy of Science & Engineering and National Honor Society. On his free time, he is usually providing guidance to his clubs through ties with Kiwanis, the global service organization that serviced and created Key Club.
SYDNEY SIMMONS is a talented student that excels in mathematics. She is very involved in her school’s Marching Band, Debate Team, and Tennis Team. She has won many awards such as the title of being an All-Stater, Texas Music Scholar, and many others. She hopes to go into the STEM field as a career and aspires to be an engineer.
RAINE WEBER is an incoming senior at Stratford High School and a member of the Academy of Science and Engineering (ASE). Through her involvement in school clubs and organizations she has experience in group work and cooperation. Her participation in Link Crew has given her leadership experience by leading a group of freshmen students into their new school. Involvement in National Honor Society has given her the opportunity to donate her time giving back to the community. Raine wishes to pursue science and business at the college level.
SAMANTHA WEED is a senior at Stratford High School. She is involved in the Academy of Science and Engineering, theatre, yearbook, National Honor Society, High School Aerospace Scholars and the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization. She also enjoys reading and volunteer work. Samantha is eager to pursue biomedical engineering in college and hopes this project will help her learn more about the field.
RACHEL WILLIAMSON is a senior at Stratford High School. She is a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, and is the Costume Crew Head in the Stratford Playhouse. She is valedictorian and is in all advanced and AP classes. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and volunteering. Rachel has not yet decided what she wants to do in college, but she knows she wants to continue to help people.
MADDIE WYLIE is a senior and spends much of her time working on Academy of Science and Engineering projects. In addition to this, she is also a Girl Scout and is working towards achieving her gold award. She also actively particpates in her school’s Thespian Troupe, Key Club, Red Cross Club, and Tri Theta. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dogs and making puns.
GAVIN YOUNG is a senior at Stratford High School. He takes all AP core classes and is currently a valedictorian. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, German Honor Society, and a member of the International Thespian Society. He has also played trumpet for almost 7 years and is currently a member of the Stratford Spartan Marching Band. Outside of school he enjoys spending his time reading about early 20th century history and playing strategy games.
CAROLYN ZHANG is currently a senior at Stratford High School with a keen interest in STEM. She loves her physics, biology, and chemistry classes and plans to major in biomedical engineering at university. Carolyn is currently the president of Orchestra, historian of her Red Cross Club, assistant editor-in-chief of her yearbook, and a member of the Academy of Science and Engineering, Future Scientists and Engineers of America, and National Honor Society. Carolyn loves to travel and wishes to bring aid to the people and environments of different regions.
