Seven Stratford students were selected to compete against teams from the greater Houston area at the Offshore Technology Conference energy challenge. The students were presented with an energy dilemma, and then created a five minute video and a PowerPoint presentation. They justified their solutions to an energy dilemma by answering questions from close to three hundred professional engineers. They represented themselves, Stratford, and the community well. One of our students even responded in Chinese and another ended up being quoted in a BP publication! Although we ended up just outside of the students receiving scholarships ($3,000 to $5,000), we received awards for the Best Green Solution and the Most Innovative Solution. We had the best video presentation from group one and the best Q&A from group two, but the composite scoring placed us just outside of the top three.
